Care at Home Helps Children Thrive

Henry Saladino, 2 1/2, smiles and giggles while playing with his mom, Mary. But little does he know, the play is actually crucial therapy. Twice a week, University of Vermont Health's Home Health & Hospice Pediatric Rehabilitation staff come to Henry’s home for physical and occupation therapy sessions that are helping Henry fight the effects of alternating hemiplegia of childhood (AHC), a one-in-a-million neurological disorder that presented when Henry was just nine weeks old. The disease results in episodes of facial and limb paralysis, muscle weakness and seizures.
